A decade of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service
Over the past 10 years CEMS maps and data have been highly valuable for multiple actors involved in disaster risk management worldwide.
CEMS products range from on-demand maps for emergency response or risk assessment to exposure mapping and to monitoring and forecasting of floods, droughts, and forest fires.
Over the past years CEMS has built strong links with other Copernicus services to maximize synergies.
CEMS is constantly evolving integrating the latest developments in science and technology.
New policy initiatives such as the European Green Deal or the strengthening of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism will continue to drive the development of CEMS.
As it is expected that the number of disasters will increase in the future mostly due to climate change, user feedback will be at the heart of the evolution of CEMS.
