New survey reveals 5.6% Landscape Features in EU Agriculture
A new methodology for assessing Landscape Features (LFs) in EU agricultural lands classifies LFs into woody, grassy, wet, and stony types. Resulting from years of development and implementation, this approach led to the collection of 3.8 million data points in the field through the LUCAS survey, providing a comprehensive and accurate assessment. This field data estimates that LFs cover 5.6% of EU farmlands, aiding in understanding agricultural biodiversity and supporting policies like the CAP and NRL. This marks a significant advancement in EU agricultural and environmental research and monitoring.
