JRC Statistical Audit of the 2024 European Skills Index
This document contains the Statistical Audit of the 2024 European Skills Index (ESI) conducted by the European Commission’s Competence Centre on Composite Indicators and Scoreboards (COIN) at the Joint Research Centre (JRC). The ESI was first published in 2018 by the Centre for the Development of Vocational Education and Training (CEDEFOP), and the present Statistical Audit is the third conducted by the JRC-COIN. The audit focuses on the statistical soundness of the multi-level structure of the index as well as on the impact of key modelling assumptions on the results. The findings confirm that the ESI 2024 is a reliable tool with good statistical properties, which manages to adequately capture and monitor the performance of European skills formation and matching systems.
