ERM-BD519 is an anhydrous milk fat matrix material certified for the relative mass fraction of triglycerides and cholesterol, produced within the scope of ISO 17034 accreditation and ISO 33405:2024. ERM-BD519 is available in amber glass ampoules containing approximately 5 mL of anhydrous milk fat, which were sealed under an atmosphere of argon. Between-unit homogeneity was quantified and stability during transport and storage was assessed in accordance with ISO 33405:2024. Within-unit homogeneity was quantified to determine the minimum sample size. The minimum sample size for one measurement is 10 mg. The material was characterised by an interlaboratory comparison of laboratories of demonstrated competence and adhering to ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Technically invalid results were removed but no outlier was eliminated unless a technical reason for the deviation was found. Uncertainties of the certified values were estimated in accordance with ISO 17034:2016 and ISO 33405:2024 and include uncertainties related to possible inhomogeneity, instability and characterisation. The material is intended either for calibration or for the evaluation of method performance according to ISO 17678:2019/IDF 202:2019. Before release of the CRM, the certification project was subjected to peer-review involving both internal and external experts.
