Bye, Bye Robot
The graphic novel provides an introduction into the topic of wild pollinating insects decline and the role of citizens in addressing the issue. The story follows the adventures of Hanami, a prototype biodiversity monitoring robot, and Arianna, a farmer looking after it. As the AI-powered robot learns more about pollinators and interacts with people, it discoveres the many meanings that biodiversity can have and different roles it can play in peoples' lives. Meanwhile, the readers are introduced to the diversity of pollinator species, their role in farming and ecosystems, as well as the many issues that cause the decline of pollinatating insects. The graphic novel is one of the outcomes of the Science and Technology for Pollinating Insects project, which included piloting citizen engagement processes on the topic of pollinators decline across Europe.
