Outcomes of dedicated workshops
This report presents the views and perspectives of young people on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on children’s rights, outcome of the collective work of a young panel - 18 young people from 9 European Countries, aged between 14 and 20 years old- engaging in spring 2021 with researchers and experts of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission following the principles of participatory research. This work is instrumental to a JRC study on AI and the Rights of the Child (AIRoC). It highlights elements and questions that young people consider important to address regarding AI and the protection of children’s rights. Young panelists share their views on the way AI could positively affect children’s rights and, on the contrary, how it could challenge them. The report concludes on what young people tell us about AI, what are their concerns for their educational path and work but also proposals about AI to direct it positively for the future.
