Combining interventions to promote pro-environmental behaviours - The role of incentives and norms for effective climate
interventions
Policy mixes combine various policy measures to address complex issues, like climate change. When addressed to behaviour change, they can use monetary rewards and nudges that highlight personal or social norms. Policy mixes can overcome the limitations of single interventions, like diminishing intrinsic motivation for sustainable actions. Norm-based nudges, while designed to influence specific pro-environmental behaviours, can have a positive ripple effect, leading to the adoption of subsequent pro-environmental behaviours. Combining monetary rewards and norm nudges can enhance pro-environmental engagement across time.
