Guidelines for the application of the 2nd generation of Eurocode 7: Geotechnical design
The 2nd generation of EN1997 places a requirement on the designer to specifically address the implementation of their design as a part of the overall design process. The code lays out a series of plans which are to be produced by the designer to be used alongside the requirements of the execution standards.
This guideline aims to provide the user with advice on the content to consider for these plans, with examples for different geotechnical structures. The guide indicates methods to align the design code requirements with the practical considerations of the execution phase of the project.
EN1997 requires that the designer considers how the structure is to be checked during the service life and maintenance stage after actual construction is complete. The examples in this guide also cover how these requirements can be built into the plans that are specified as design output.
